Adam Lambert's Queen's new lead singer

'American Idol' runner-up Adam Lambert has revealed that he will be the new frontman for the classic rock band 'Queen.'

The 30-year-old singer will be filling-in for the original vocalist of the band, Freddie Mercury, who died in 1991.

Lambert said one of his idols was Queen's original front man, Mercury, who is widely considered one of the greatest vocalists in rock history.

"The intention is to pay tribute to Freddie and the band by singing some great songs," the New York Daily News quoted him as telling the Daily Star.

"It's to keep the music alive for the fans and give it an energy that Freddie would've been proud of," he said.

Mercury, who died at age 45 of complications from AIDS-related complications in 1991, was the soaring voice behind hits like 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and 'We Are the Champions.' (ANI)
